Maria Laura Pini was born in Buenos Aires. Her restless soul enjoys wandering about life in search of new experiences. She works with different materials: clay, metals, fabric and paint, and has recently discovered in wood, like an enthusiastic “Geppetto”, the way to make countless characters come to life to tell their own stories.
Maria leaves a very personal trail in her pieces, a need to feel how materials give in to her and her hands, and how they transform and acquire multiple new identities at her touch. Sometimes humorously, at times ironically, and why not, at others, dramatically.
Black pencils and other drawing elements engage in a graceful “pas de deux” and glide and float on a paper stage telling stories without words. A sudden and abrupt change follows to achieve accuracy through extremely precise cuttings, which will irreversibly give birth to my work of art. Creativity, freshness and an original way of telling, invite the spectator to watch.
