The fascinating world of Caribbean pop artist German Perez
The Chase Edwards Gallery has the honor of presenting acclaimed multimedia artist Dominican-Caribbean-New Yorker German Perez in a show of new works entitled Caribbean Pop Now.
For this special exhibit, Perez will premiere his digital multimedia art work. These digital works will be shown on multiple mediums including paper, plexiglass, glass, sculpture, and video. Perez will also unveil a guitar made by hand with one of Perez' works. A total of 50 newly designed pieces will encompass the show.
This is the 26th solo show for German Perez and his 7th solo show in New York.
Perez has exhibited widely across the United States and internationally. Among his shows: France at the Young Artists Biennial and the Spain Biennial of Ibiza as well as the Art Fair of Venezuela. He was invited for a solo show at the prestigious Espacio Cultural Dos Correios in Rio de Janiero and has shown at the Galeria Botello in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In Panama City, Panama , Deutsche Bank sponsored a Perez exhibit at the Galeria ArteConsult.
In the United States, Perez presented a one man show at the headquarters of the Organization of American States-OAS in Washington, DC and was a guest solo artist at Nely Galan's Production Company at the FOX Television Studios in Los Angeles. In Miami, German Perez was asked to show at the Dolphin Studios of television producers Cristina Saralegui and Marcos Avila.
German Perez is part of several private collections including Mikhail Baryshnikov, art patron Theodore Kheel, Chef Alain Ducasse, Cristina Saralegui, Nely Galan, and Deutsche Bank, and many more.
The German Perez coffee table art book was published in 2009 by Yaboa Press. Where We Dreamers Dream was written by curator and former Director of New York’s El Museo del Barrio Susanna Toruella Leval. The book also includes poems by famed Dominican American writer Julia Alvarez and poet Kathy Engel about Perez’ work. The book will be for sale at the gallery.
