George Tun Sein is known for his thickly layered impasto abstract paintings. As a mid-career artist, George regularly paints in his New York based studio, and has displayed his artwork internationally since 1993.

Inclinations and preferences aside, painting is the act of applying paint on canvas at a moment in time.
I like to think that my art is essentially the result of my immersion into color, with its mysteries, its obstinacy, its beauty and fluency, its boundless echoes, in weaving compositions.
I tend to paint impasto, and my work can take time in resolving itself. Of course, as time goes by, I have learned to manipulate paint more fluently.
No matter what intentions I bring before a canvas, things always happen, and improvisations are de rigueur.
