Alicia Rothman's unique style of painting employs a varied use of printmaking techniques: silkscreen, stencils, relief, combined with oil painting on panel. She utilize  hand-cut templates, pattern-making, and resist techniques to create patterns that enliven the work. She draws on the history of Western art for inspiration, with influences ranging from ancient wall paintings and Byzantine, medieval, and renaissance art to twentieth-century fabric designs.
