Heavily influenced by the New York School, American artist Daniel Yocum (b. 1994) has spent a collective 20 years working with an array of mediums in his expansive visual practice. Yocum, born in Kentucky and residing in Nashville, TN, is a self-taught painter with influences that include Phillip Guston, Cy Twombly, Robert Crumb, and Andy Warhol. Daniel takes a hip-hop approach to figurative abstract expressionism by sampling the imagery of cars and flowers, accompanied by bursts of vivid color and lurking marks of black.
